Why heat pumps?

Built for the British climate

Our specially selected inverter Air Source Heat Pumps are purpose built by European manufacturers specifically for the UK climate by utilising the available heat in the most efficient way possible.
Why heat pumps?

Harvesting the Heat with Heat Pumps

The air source heat pump system uses a fan to force air over a copper coil, filled with liquid refrigerant to extract the heat from the air. The evaporator within the pump transfers this heat absorbed by the coil to the compressor as a vapour.
Why heat pumps?

The Compressor

The vapour is compressed in volume and as its volume reduces, its temperature increases to 75˚C-125˚C. The vapour is fed through an inbuilt heat exchanger and transferred to your existing heating/hot water system. As it gives up the heat captured from the air, it condenses back into a liquid.

How Do Air Source Heat Pumps Work?

Modern air source heat pumps are a product of new technology applied to an old idea; an idea that has been in existence for more than half a century.

Did you know you already have a heat pump working in your kitchen right now? Have you noticed how hot the back of your fridge gets? That’s because all the heat inside is extracted through the heat pump in the back of the fridge, keeping the refrigeration compartment cool and your food fresh.

Air source heat pump systems work on the same principle, but in reverse. They take the free and natural heat from the air outside, and convert it into usable heat, providing hot water at a temperature which can reach up to 65°C. Amazingly, it can do this efficiently right down to -20°C. Because it has an unlimited resource to draw heat from, there is a vast amount of usable energy right down to -273°C; once captured the heat is released through your radiators or under floor heating.

The Many Benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps

  • Your property already has adequate electricity to power a heat pump
  • No other fuel is required
  • No waiting for deliveries of fuel or unsightly tanks to store it in
  • You’re future proof against rising fossil fuel costs
  • Air source heat pumps are affordable and offer low running costs
  • Low maintenance ‘fit and forget’ technology – there are no burners or flues
  • Quiet running units, located outdoors and not heard from inside
  • Zero emissions – the only residue from an air source heat pump is cooler air

Why Hybrid Air Source Heat Pumps?

Our specially selected inverter Air Source Heat Pumps are purpose built by European manufacturers specifically for the UK climate by utilising the available heat in the most efficient way possible.

With increasing fuel costs and new legislation arriving imminently, such as the government’s plan for new homes to be zero carbon (no fossil fuels for heating and lighting) from 2016, it is only a matter of time before we all embrace this technology and have an air source heat pump installed. The sooner you make the change, the sooner your home and expenditure will benefit.
